Is it better to use a thin coating?

After temporarily joining the body and neck, next step is the coating process. This involves applying an undercoat, intermediate coat, and then a light coat over that. Each time the guitar is coated and sanded down.

The thickness of the final coating should be from 0.1 to 0.2 millimeters or less. The expensive price guitar has thinner finish coating. Guitar sound comes from resonation of the board so that the thinner coating to make natural wood sound is preferable.

Coating the neck takes more care than you might think

The neck coating requires more care than the body. The neck’s rounded shape and the pores of the wood appear on the surface indentation are gradually crafted to be the flat shape.

Never polish too much!

Next process, buffing. The beautiful finish surface. After applying polishing compound, the guitar is then pressed against a buffing wheel (cloth) and polished. However, over-polishing has risk of removing the coating that was applied previous procedure.
